A prayer vigil for America the beautiful…

Whoever reads the Bible with any attention to America the beautiful cannot fail to perceive that more than half of its contents relate to one nation, the Israelites, upon whom God shed His grace. The reader perceives too, that they have a very distinct place in the dealings and counsels of God. Separated from the mass of mankind, they are taken into covenant with Jehovah, who gives them specific promises not given to any other nation. Their history alone is told in Old Testament narrative and prophecy – other nations being mentioned only as they touch the Jew. It appears, also, that all the communications of Jehovah to Israel as a nation relate to the Earth. If faithful and obedient, the nation is promised earthly greatness, riches and power; if unfaithful and disobedient, it is to be scattered “among all people, from one end of the earth to the other” (Deut. 28:64). Even the promise of the Messiah is of blessing to “all the families of the earth.”

This is fulfilled in another distinct body, which is called the Church, which also has a peculiar relation to God, and, like Israel, has received from Him specific promises. Scripture illustrates that neither Israel nor the Church always existed. Each had a recorded beginning. That of Israel he finds in the call of Abram. Looking then for the birth of the Church the reader finds that it certainly did not exist before, nor during the lifetime of Christ, for Christ speaks of His Church as yet future “Upon this rock, I WILL build my church,” and from Ephesians 3:5-10, that the Church is not once mentioned in Old Testament prophecy, but was, in those ages, a mystery “hid in God.”

America the beautiful Cross of Blessing and Glory taken in Arizona soon after 9/11…

Scripturally, the birth of the Church is found in Acts 2 and the termination of its career on the Earth in I Thessalonians 4. It is at this point, through the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ that Jew and Gentile come together spiritually rather than earthly. And, rather tellingly, it is a Jew, Saul, who becomes Christ’s messenger, Paul, to fulfill God’s promise to Abram, who became Abraham, that “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3)

Good faith is like a sword, forged in fire. It doesn’t shatter when swung at its enemies, yet it can pierce the soul and open the eyes of a would-be adversary so that they may be spared. It doesn’t pretend for profit, and it most certainly doesn’t ignore the harsher realities in order to preach a lesser image only of love and blindness. Non-denominational prosperity gospel, hand in hand with the secularists within the church, has tainted the name and truth behind what it means to be Christian.

The “non-denominational” myth, where the harsher realities of our world are ignored, may accumulate good profit for preachers like Joel Osteen and others, while ignoring the truth that Christ did not come here to be the world’s doormat, but to promote confidence in the Father God and to enable his followers to see and be better prepared to deal with the evil that inhabits this world. Anyone seeking to ignore that reality never had any faith to begin with. Faith in idols and material clutter, faith in mankind .. That is not true faith. May we all see the light before our secular media and false Christians shatter it. Otherwise, it will only be those who are blessed with a special grace that will be faithful in the Lord, as there are far more difficult times developing that lay in waiting ahead of us.

A warning for America the beautiful…

Our votes this November will be for much more than choosing people or parties. Laid out teasingly on our political smorgasbord going forward, we have the choosing of the principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness of this world, or the falling back to repentance and forgiveness to bring the nation back into its heritage as a truly Christian nation. Not just a “Christian nation,” but a nation that acknowledges and serves God, not God’s enemies. We can pray for favor in God’s eyes and receive the blessings He will give us, including protection in the days ahead, or we can continue our headlong dash along the path that leads to destruction, and spend the rest of our days wrestling with the man or woman of perdition.

It would behoove We The People to go humbly before His throne and declare “America the beautiful, God shed His grace on thee”, but the choice is entirely up to us.

As I wrote at the end of What Would Jesus Do Might Surprise A Lot of People back on July 31st:

In Closing…
“If God is for me, who can be against me?” I think God shakes his mighty head, and wonders who on earth is for him. Many are called, but few actually answer.

The issue of their Christianity (ie Clinton and Trump) is moot, in my opinion. The best that can be said is that Donald Trump has raised what appear to be healthy and ethical children. Hill ‘n Bill ‘n Webb’s kid (ie Chelsea) are all criminals without blush, and not only embrace immorality but actively promote it. We are all pretty lacking and fall far short of who we should be and that’s good enough for me. By their fruits, etc.

You have been found wanting...

America the beautiful, you have been found wanting…

But in the happenstance on the occasion, perhaps, when Trump builds a ‘wall’, limits Middle East immigration, strengthens ties with Israel, stops the killing of our police officers, and improves the economy, I doubt anyone will complain that he isn’t Christian enough.

As for those progressive liberal-leftist DemoMarxist drones, they are the minions of Satan, and you can take that straight to the bank.

And what would Jesus do? My sense is, just what he’s done once or twice before. Jesus wept. (Luke 19:41 / John 11:35)
