I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem. 

Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together: Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. 

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. 

Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good. ~ Psalm 122

Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people since 996 BC – as of this writing, 3,013 years. Additionally, that Psalm of David above made its debut at around the same time, some 1700 years before ever there was a Muhammad or an ideology encompassing Muslims or Islam. The eventual roaming occupiers of the Jewish Land,  ie., Romans, Arabs, Mamelukes, Turks and Brits, managed to turn a once-blossoming oasis into a forlorn, dried, sterile land.

If we are true to history, it is clear that only one people has a genuine claim to the land of Israel. Following the Civil War and traveling through the Holy Land in 1867 when it was at the time occupied by the Ottoman Muslim empire, Mark Twain wrote:

“No landscape exists that is more tiresome to the eye than that which bounds the approaches to Jerusalem. Jerusalem is mournful, dreary, and lifeless. Palestine sits in sack cloth and ashes, its minuscule Arab presence – making use of virtually none of the available land for the people’s own meager needs – could hardly be considered a serious counter to the claim of millions of Jews the world over to a State of their own.”

Consider therefore, the relevance of President Trump’s action. For the first time since 1948, Jerusalem once again takes on the mantle of the Israeli people’s capital, notwithstanding the fury and sputtering of the naysayers, the customary anti-Israel cabal of European nations, and the Islamic Muslims’ screeches from their 58 countries, most of which surround the relatively tiny State of Israel.

Yet it made no difference to the hypocrisy which immediately emanated from the usual suspects following Wednesday’s announcement that the United States would be recognizing Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel by moving its embassy from Tel Aviv.

Someone please remind me whenever in the last 70 years, the Middle East was not “inflamed”. Barely 13 hours after David Ben Gurion’s May 1948 declaration of a reborn State of Israel, five Arab armies invaded its territory: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq, before being severely rendered useless by a rag-tag Israeli army using First World War vehicles and armed equipment. Memo to the world – Israel won.

President Trump has made a leadership decision. It’s a decision that had to be made because it is right and moral, against all belligerent opponents. This is what courageous leadership is about. Previous US presidents simply did not have the guts, moral conviction, and rational judgment to make this overdue move. The President should now follow up and give the knock out blow to the Palestinian office in Washington.

The ancient olive trees of Gethsemane in Jerusalem, witnesses to Christ’s suffering…

Jerusalem has been, and forever will be until the second coming, the arbiter of God and separation, or of God and invocation. Let us never forget that Christ had some scathing words for those who would despoil and purloin the very location of God’s presence on earth. When that Temple veil was torn top to bottom, everything on the planet changed forever. As for Trump, he undoubtedly is the man in place for this moment in time. If only the Garden of Gethsemane could speak!

The Bible plainly states that Israel’s miraculous end time restoration brings into play another factor, that in the last days God will judge the nations according to their leaders’ attitudes and actions regarding His eternal promise to restore Israel to rightful ownership. God has staked His reputation, His Name, on this. His whole redemptive plan now focuses on Israel being in the land that He promised to them. Personally, I can’t think of a better entity to side with. What about you?
