Since Western Civilization was founded on Christianity, it’s small wonder that the civilization is collapsing as Biblical/historical knowledge fades. All the great writers possessed deep knowledge of the Bible, particularly the King James version, one of the most beautiful literary documents of all time. The majestic prose of Lincoln or the sublime works of Shakespeare are unthinkable without deep knowledge of the Bible. Its fascinating tales and stories are filled with archetypal characters and situations that will resonate with humanity forever. The current book on point is “How the West Won” by Rodney Stark which presents an excellent overview of the development of Western Civilization, including of course, the part attributable to Christianity in that development.

While there are some who think the Elizabethan language of the KJV is too difficult for a mind ill-trained by the current awful education system, it has the advantage that Latin does in science; it’s no longer constantly changing. Modern English is a mess, a mix of many more than the four bases it came from. An older version is a good thing for retaining the core meaning, while overthinking the translation into modern language, I think, gives up too much. Too much depth of meaning.

Following Jesus Christ is the pursuit of truth, for Jesus said, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” ~ John 14:6. You cannot know truth without knowing Jesus, the Christ.

Those aren’t my words – they’re His words, and if it isn’t from God’s word in the Bible, it should be rejected. “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved” is a stand-alone statement. If any conditions or stipulations are added to that, it becomes a cult.

God created us with a free will. Therefore, he doesn’t damn anyone – we choose to damn ourselves. There is only one sin that is unpardonable, and that is the rejection of Jesus, although He himself refers to the one unpardonable sin as the rejection of the Holy Spirit, so we would be well-advised to pay heed. ~ Matthew 12:31-32 and Mark 3:28-29

Don’t confuse the earthly shortcomings of people with the spiritual truths of God, who loves you so much that he will be with you always – even in hell. Deuteronomy 4:31 and Psalm 139:8 are clear indications, not that it will be of much comfort to you then. 2 Peter 3:9 declares “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” ~ which doesn’t mean he’ll wait on you forever.

It’s a shame that in this brief Grace-granted glimpse of the immense Light between a sleep and a sleep that so many shut their eyes to the unfolding miracle of each moment, and think, poor little monkeys, that since none of it is about them none of it needs to be seen as it is — glorious, compassionate and indifferent. They actually think – no “believe” – that the Creator should not be beyond their good and evil; that the moral life of Creation should reflect our dim and limited mind.

Given the gift some use it to curse the Giver.
