The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord~ Psalm 14:1-4

The First Great Awakening as we know it occurred from about 1730 to 1755/60, with firebrand preachers setting the stage in people’s minds for the liberty attained in the American Revolution. Both in England with the fiery preaching of the Wesley brothers, and in New England America with Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, and others, the fire of revival burned brightly leading up to the American split with George III and Britain.

The Second Great Awakening occurred about 40 years later, from 1795-1840 and is what Tocqueville wrote about, seeing sects arise – the various communal religious sects such as the Mormons, Shakers, Oneida, etc. This remarkable Awakening was also responsible for the Abolitionist movement which led to the Civil War.

The Third Great Awakening occurred from 1880-1920. This Awakening was characterized by people preaching, and putting into practice, the Social Gospel. While the effects of this Awakening were mainly Prohibition and the New Deal, and fueled the rise of Progressivism, it is interesting to note that Woodrow Wilson, the Father of Progressivism, originally intended to be a minister just like his father. It would be interesting to surmise how differently America would look today, had Wilson indeed become a minister and not the father of the Federal Reserve!

Arguably, the Fourth Great Awakening occurred from, say, 1976 (America’s 200th birthday) to 2008, characterized by a conservative political cast headed up by the presidency of Ronald Wilson Reagan, which was influential in the political sphere as the Moral Majority. It continues to hold great influence in politics today, especially as it relates to current affairs, with a totally out-of-control Big Media and Democrat party seemingly hell-bent on bringing down the aspirations of the popularly-elected Donald Trump with their daily attacks on his presidency.

Make no mistake here, the Democrats have become the party of not just anti-Christianity, but anti-Judeo-Christian Faith completely. Consider for instance, that they insist on the removal of the Ten Commandments from public buildings, with Christian believers being put out of the public square and forced to practice their religion within the four walls of their churches. On the other hand, liberal leftist Democrats remain eager and willing to flinging wide open the doors to academia and the public square with the incessant urge to Islamify American culture with forced Shari’ah Law. Once that is accomplished you can count on them going after the churches and synagogues themselves.

It is already a secular sin to publicly acknowledge one’s belief in the Judeo-Christian God of Creation. (Reference Tim Tebow for one, and many other celebrities who are constantly under attack for their faith). Sooner rather than later if Democrats have their way it will be a matter of law. Hate speech will be construed to include practicing Christians and Jews.

And this is only a few decades away if We the People don’t change course drastically and pray to God for a New Awakening to embrace the United States of America. Land of the free, home of the brave. Legacy of the Founding Fathers.

Ted Cruz standing tall against the Left which is intent on removing any Judeo-Christian recognition from public view…

On the eve of the 241st anniversary of the Declaration of Independence coming up on Tuesday, the content of my above commentary is purely a means of introducing a most needed topic in this day and age of cultural immorality that I came across just the other day from E.W. Jackson, on the efficacy of bringing revival to American Judeo-Christianity, and thereby instilling into American culture a “New Awakening”:

It is an understatement to say that America is divided. One well-known expert in American history, David Barton, says the state of the country today feels like 1856, five years before the start of the Civil War.

Calls for calm and civility go unheeded by Democrats and their supporters, who will not accept the results of the 2016 election. The same attitude was prevalent after the election of Republican Abraham Lincoln.

The mainstream media, Hollywood elites, college professors and progressive activists spread conspiracy theories about the Trump campaign colluding with the Russians. They promote division and hostility everywhere — between men and women, rich and poor, young and old, black and white, Christians and LGBT activists, and even exploit illegal immigrants to protest America’s sovereign right to secure borders.

President Trump, Republicans, and their supporters are depicted as racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, Islamophobic, and dangerous. The cauldron of resentment and bitterness has begun to boil over into violence on campuses, in the streets, and even at a baseball field in Virginia, where Republican congressmen and their staffs were shot by a progressive activist.

There have been calls for unity, which requires two sides, but the Left is unwilling. They are blinded by hatred, and they apply the Saul Alinsky principle that their success depends on division and confusion.

The chasm between the two sides is not intellectual, but spiritual. The only antidote for bitterness is forgiveness. The only prescription for division is reconciliation. These are distinctly Christian virtues, and therein lies the rub. Much of the hatred that is poisoning our politics is directed against Christianity itself. There is a widespread rejection of the Bible’s moral absolutes and the virtues that bring healing in a society: patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.

The intense division in America is a sickness of the heart, the result of turning away from God and our cultural identity as a Christian society. Without the divine hope of eternal peace and joy, people substitute desperate utopian dreams which they feel compelled to implement “by any means necessary.” As the communists murdered millions in the Soviet Union, Vladimir Lenin callously cited the French proverb: “If you want to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs.”

This seems to be how the Left in America thinks today. The intense political hatred, destructive protests and riots, murdered politicians and police, are the broken eggs necessary to make the omelet of utopia. The fixed guideposts which once united us are being ripped out of the ground. Facts and truth are being cast aside along with reality. Liberal cultural elites, having denounced the Higher authority to which our Founders appealed, are dragging us into the madness of cultural and moral relativism.

There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the Lord is his refuge. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. ~ Psalm 14:5-7
