Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. ~ Isaiah 42:1

Probity: descends from the Latin ‘probus’ and its synonyms honesty, honor, and integrity; uprightness of character or action, with some slight differences in emphasis: honesty implies a refusal to lie or deceive: Though probity sounds like what you might do with a sharp stick, it actually means being morally and ethically above reproach: having integrity. ~ Merriam-Webster Dictionary

More than a few people refer to the Constitution as a social contract but it can’t be because in many ways it is incomplete. During the years of my getting to be long life, I have signed thousands of business contracts over the decades and every single one of them had ‘performance’ clauses stipulating consequences for behavior damaging to the contract. Any business contract written like the Constitution would fail outright and no sane business person would ever choose to be a party to it; whoever drew it up would be out of business in short order.

In my more cynical moments, I suspect that our Constitution is pretty much operating as designed, given its dubious provenance. Not that anybody in a real position of power has been following it all that closely for at least the last 160 years, certainly not any clause therein limiting his/her accrual of power and/or wealth.

Considering the cavalier way in which the current perpetrators of the now-failed ‘Impeachment Enquiry’ (to refer to it as a ‘trial’ would be perfidy) the only thing I find surprising about the Constitution at this point is why it hasn’t already failed. The cynic in me attributes that to the massive amount of criminality perpetrated by the government body at large. Plus its lamestream media accomplices. And its deep state corrupt mentality. All of which is immeasurable.

The second president of the United States was very opinionated about that very topic…

From John Adams to John Taylor, 17 December, 1814: I do not say that Democracy has been more pernicious, on the whole, and in the long run, than Monarchy or Aristocracy. Democracy has never been and never can be so durable as Aristocracy or Monarchy. But while it lasts it is more bloody than either. When will Mankind listen to reason, to nature or to Revelation?

Remember Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes exhausts and murders itself. There never was a Democracy Yet, that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that Democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious or less avaricious than Aristocracy or Monarchy. It is not true in Fact and nowhere appears in history. Those Passions are the same in all Men under all forms of Simple Government, and when unchecked, produce the same Effects of Fraud Violence and Cruelty. When clear Prospects are opened before Vanity, Pride, Avarice or Ambition, for their easy gratification, it is hard for the most considerate Phylosophers and the most conscientious Moralists to resist the temptation. Individuals have conquered themselves, Nations and large Bodies of Men, never.

Note those two highlight lines, especially – ‘and when unchecked’.

The US Constitution was written for a moral, God fearing people. The framers all knew this and had doubts as to how long the Constitution would endure. Remember Ben Franklin’s ‘A Republic, if you can keep it.’

No doubt they would be amazed at how long it has so far endured, and yes, it has many faults and ambiguous wording, but just remember the framers were under tremendous pressure to get the Constitution ratified by the Colonies/States.

Fast-forward to today and there could well be a case of our generation being guilty of not holding our governing thugs to the fire for the on going trashing of the document. We the (63 million) People are the only possible defenders of the words and intent of the Constitution. As we are finding out through this nonsensical impeachment fiasco, ‘Government’ is an entity in and of itself with very spurious people involved. Government after all, full of willful disregarders the likes of Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, Nadler and the rest of the Democrat malcontents, will hardly defend the document that is in place to control – you guessed it – Government!

More John Adams: No simple Form of Government, can possibly secure Men against the Violences of Power. Simple Monarchy will soon mould itself into Despotism, Aristocracy will soon commence an Oligarchy, and Democracy, will soon degenerate into an Anarchy, such an Anarchy that every Man will do what is right in his own Eyes, and no Mans life or Property or Reputation or Liberty will be secure and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral Virtues, and Intellectual Abilities, all the Powers of Wealth, Beauty, Wit, and Science, to the wanton Pleasures, the capricious Will, and the execrable Cruelty of one or a very few. ~ Papers of John Adams, Volume 1, Massachusetts Historical Society

Following Adams, Thomas Jefferson, third president, had his own particular take on it all as per his ‘Tree of Liberty’ concern, very clearly aimed at those who would attempt to make big Government their lifetime ambition. That, plus making sure no Kingly Royals evinced themselves of the opportunity.

One could, I suppose, gripe about the Constitution having no built in safeguards against corruption, even though in accordance with law the most basic form of corporation (contract law) does. In the absence of safeguards the Constitution then becomes liable itself to be used as a sanctioned gateway to massive crime all the way up the ladder and beyond.

You can look at any of the amendments and see many instances where safeguards against corruption and criminality are absent and malfeasance has rendered all of them little more than tools of the tyrant. If, for instance, I ‘threaten’ to kill you, I have committed a crime, but if a politician (Virginia governor, Pelosi, Schiff, Schumer, Nadler and the rest of the current impeachment death squad etal) ‘threatens’ to steal the tools you might use to protect yourself from me, then no crime has occurred. Nothing is on paper to prevent any politician or their helpers from damaging you in all ways. Thereby the current gang of leftist Democrats, aggrandizing themselves in the very same Government pasture within which all the goodies are harvested, are having a field day, while the other observing half of the nation sit idly by anticipating the soon incarceration of the government criminals!

John Adams knew exactly where it was all headed. Heed his words…

No simple Form of Government, can possibly secure Men against the Violences of Power. ~ Papers of John Adams, Volume 1

Just remember from above – the massive amount of criminality perpetrated by the government body at large. Plus its lamestream media accomplices. And its deep state corrupt mentality. All of which is immeasurable.

Thank God for Donald J. Trump and his enduring efforts to bring political probity back into the Presidential office and beyond.

Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. ~ Isaiah 42:9
