I woke up this morning expecting to smell the aroma of bacon wafting from the kitchen and my mother’s voice calling me to “get ready for school.” I expected to see my homework (arithmetic and spelling) already done and my Mighty Mouse lunchbox nearby.
But sixty years have passed since I was eleven, and I am mortified to see what has become of the America I knew, the America where Leave It to Beaver and Father Knows Best were two of the most popular television shows, where the raciest jokes on air were only hinted at by a slyly grinning Groucho Marx on You Bet Your Life.

That opening sentiment is from Robert Arvay in American Thinker, a reminiscence he titles ‘Waking up in an American nightmare’. Sad to say my friends, but that very same sentiment could be applied to my native Britain. Or Canada. Or Latin America. Or for that matter, the whole of Europe. Heck, how about worldwide?
There’s an old adage that avers: ‘The foundation of every civilization is the family, and when families break down so does the church’.
It began as a ‘bellwether’ back in the sublime age of innocence (the early years of the 1960s) which suddenly took on the mantle of removing prayer and Bible study from schools; then somewhat hauntingly, the carting away of the Ten Commandments from government and public properties; which ultimately led to the Supreme Court decision on baby killings known as ‘Roe v Wade’; ending, if you will, in the oxymoronic ‘same sex marriage’ concoction and it’s all been downhill ever since.
The continuing shredding apart of a Godly civilized society right under the noses of its inhabitants.
No need to delve into recent acts of turpitude which have denigrated the Republic even further. Once the changes began coming fast and furious, it didn’t take long for the entire culture of America to begin the long slide down to ignominy, prior to which (somewhat fortuitously) the outliers were few, far between, and contained.
Nowadays we find ourselves in the middle of a raging tsunami, with Antonio Gramsci’s ‘long march through the institutions’ now very nearly complete.
Unless…

I awoke today in a world that not even George Orwell could have seriously predicted. It is a world where sexual virtues are ridiculed, while sexual perversions are publicly celebrated; where freedom of speech is redefined as the shouting down of conservative viewpoints; where the nonexistent right not to be offended overrides the constitutional right of free speech; where violent illegal aliens are bussed into neighborhoods far from the gated communities of those who bus them.

Following the antics of collegians and their hippie charges through the late ’60s (war protesters all) I always thought they would at least outgrow their nonsense once they were in the real world like the rest of us. When radical ideas were proposed, I thought no one would ever take them seriously. Alas and alack however, while I (and many of you) were busy working, raising our families, and going to church, the ‘Overton Window’ was moving way to the left. It happened so gradually that we didn’t notice until it was too late.
Consider if you will that a few short years ago at their party convention, one half of the voting public of the Constitutional Republic openly and defiantly rejected God from their party platform to a standing ovation filled with whistles and cheers.
And just a few weeks ago in New York state, abortion laws were ‘tweaked’ to the point where women are now given the freedom to kill their babies following delivery. The sight of the New York legislators and their surrogates, high-fiving each other and leaping around screaming joyously sent shivers up and down my spine.
Baby killers are now part of our society. Moloch and the Devil are dancing in their dens.
In contrast, a moral and religious people believe every action they make, every word they speak, every thought they have and every failure to act are accountable to a higher power above themselves. Hence a prayer, in part, ‘Lord forgive me for what I have done and what I have failed to do.’
How can one reject God and still expect his mercies and his blessings?

It is a world where every event is interpreted by propagandist impostors [all] (posing as journalists) in the worst possible light, for example to condemn teenage high school boys who were accosted by bigoted leftists and who responded with courtesy and restraint. One of the boys was accused by an interviewer, who equated his standing still with a form of aggression.
One wonders how it is that a nation supposedly governed by constitutional principles could have fallen under the boot of those who so brazenly defy those principles – but that question was answered a long time ago.

When a country’s government hates its citizens so much that it actively replaces them, it will ultimately seek to bring in those who become slaves, who are most likely to remain slaves, and who are incapable of becoming anything else but slaves. Like Robert Arvay, I too, begin to wonder just what has happened to those wonderful days of patriotism, love of neighbor and country.
And more importantly, what has happened to…
